Robert Elswit, the Academy Award-winning cinematographer of “There Will be Blood,” will participate in a free Q&A at Principia College in Elsah, Ill., Saturday evening at 8.
Joining him on the stage will be his wife (and Principia alum), Helen Ostenberg Elswit, who produced the Oscar-nominated special effects for “The Perfect Storm” and “Master and Commander.”
In 1990, Helen Elswit left a Wall Street career for her first gig in the movies–as a chauffeur for Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward during the production of “Mrs. and Mrs. Bridge.”
Robert Elswit came to the movie biz through the prestigious film program at the University of Southern California. He worked on the effects crew for such iconic productions as “E.T.’ and “Star Wars,” and he was the director of photography on such films as “Boogie Nights,” Punch-Drunk Love,” “Syriana” and “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
Tickets for the event, in Moore Auditorium at Principia College (whose hilltop campus is between Alton and Grafton) are free, but reservations are required. Contact Sue Fuller at the college (sue.fuller@principia.edu).
