The College has drastically increased it’s public relations and marketing efforts over the past 2 and half years. Dr. Hal Higdon, the College president, appreciates the importance of marketing and any/all communication’s tools at our disposal. In that regard, he allows my area to produce videos on a consistent basis. Go to www.otc.edu, and you’ll see what I mean. We pride ourselves in producing quality videos, ranging from a monthly newsletter, to profiles of College programs, events, employees, and students.
All the videos are produced in-house, produced by me, and shot and edited by two employees who have great experience as videographer/editors. Many of the videos are put together by Jeff Johnson, I know he has been involved in other projects in town, including SATO 48.
The in-house production provides the College the flexibility of producing videos at moment’s notice, and we do them so routinely a 3rd party may not be the best fit.
The response from our College community has been positive. The videos are used for many different audiences. In addition to posting them on the website, our recruiters use them during school visits and business expos. Our Foundation uses them to explain the College’s mission to current and potential donors.
As you know, user-generated content is a large segment of many websites, thus we look to supply those sites whenever possible. Video is another communications tool we have to explain the College’s mission, its value, and importance to the community. I certainly would recommend it for other organizations.
The “Tartuffe” commercial will run for 2 weeks starting this Tuesday on KOLR10 and various cable stations. We are planning to post a “Behind the Scenes” video about “Tartuffe” this week.
