Movie Night at the Monarch! 1st Friday Art Walk Nov 3rd
Randy Bacon Photography Studio and Art Gallery will host a first ever movie event during the First Friday Art Walk, November 6, 6-10 p.m. The 16,000 square foot Monarch Art Factory, located at 600 W. College Street, will be filled front to back with short film showings for art walk’s first ever, “Movie Night at the Monarch” and unique art exhibits. Join the Monarch Art Factory as seven of Springfield’s most popular emerging filmmakers present inspiring and creative short films and music videos. The movies, popcorn and soda are FREE! The event is open to the public as part of the First Friday Art Walk.
CINA CANADA is the executive director of the Human Picture Initiative which is committed to using visual communication to inspire hope, urge action and effect positive change in communities around the world. This Springfield native will be showing Death of an American Town, a film she made about the controversial shut-down of Picher, OK and the impact it had on the community.
PATRICK MUREITHI is a filmmaker from Rwanda and will be showing a beautiful film about reconciliation efforts in Rwanda called Icyizere.
RYAN SEALE AND ANTHONY GILMORE are the founders of Nameless Films, LLC. They will present a powerful film, Behind Forgotten Eyes, which captures the heart wrenching stories of Korean women who survived brutal sex slavery on an unimaginable scale from the Japanese military while Korea groaned under the rule of Imperial Japan.
BRANDON GOODWIN is the founder and president of Goodwin Films in Springfield, MO. He has made many successful music videos and wedding movies over the years and has worked with a variety of well-known bands locally and nationally including the very famous Mute Math. Goodwin will be showing a variety of his short films including “Kirby and the Love Equation”. In addition Goodwin will show his new music video, “Spotlight” which he produced for the highly popular band, Mute Math.
BRANDON ALLEN is a very talented independent filmmaker in Springfield who will be showing his hilarious short film, Fish and Chips, as well as other interesting clips of his original work.
RANDY BACON is best known for his breathtaking still photography but has been focusing on making short films for the past year. He and his wife, SHANNON BACON, will team up to shoot: “Minutes: Segments of Life Stories.” Together they will set up a special shoot area during Art Walk and shoot and interview Art Walkers to produce a short documentary video. This is a unique chance to tell your story!
The working artists in FIGMENT ART GALLERY AND CULTURE HOUSE, located next to Randy Bacon’s Gallery, will exhibit new paintings and have pottery-making demonstrations by Kelly Kennedy. CASA of Southwest Missouri will display original artwork from students in the area and will be selling their much anticipated line of greetings cards, ART WALK NIGHT IN NOV. AND DEC. ONLY!
