One + One was produced by six Missouri State University students in the Electronic Arts program who traveled to Kenya, Africa in 2008 to gather information about how micro loans are changing the face of international relief efforts aimed at eradicating global poverty. The microfinance movement connects people one person at a time, challenging people to think about foreign aid in a completely new way. Instead of simply supplying food and relief supplies on an as-needed basis, micro-financing organizations provide small loans that provide the tools for poor families to create self-sustaining businesses which can break the cycle of poverty. Winner of the Broadcast Education Association’s top award for best student documentary, One + One is an outstanding testimony to the competence, creativity, and commitment that Missouri State University students bring to the Public Affairs Mission of the university.
