Since the release of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (1999), digtal filmmaking has grown to become as useful a tool as makeup or costumes. Although there were some who thought the look of the film was a bit off, one cannot deny the impact digtal filmmaking has had on the industry.
Now we have reached a time when vitural sets have become something that network television can take advantage of and use to bring us ideas and visions that were deemed impossible on the small screen just a few years ago.
The following is a list of just a few series that are using digital tech & virtual sets to create film quaility on the small screen:
Sanctuary (Sci-fi channel) – A series that started online and crossed over onto the small screen. Check out the original online episodes on Hulu dot com.
Warehouse 13 (Sci-fi channel) Like Sanctuary this Canadian series brings us high quaility virtual work and fun stories each week. It’s like X-files without the moody dark edge. Episodes of this series can also be found on Hulu dot com.
Assassin’s Creed :Lineage- A great piece of virtual set work used as a way to promote a video game. Learn more by going here
