“Winter’s Bone” Missouri Premiere Will Be April 14th
From the KC Film Fest website comes news that the Opening Night film will be Winter’s Bone. The screening on April 14th will thus be the Missouri premiere for the film shot in Taney County, MO.
The film tells the story of 17 year-old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence), who sets out to track down her father, who put their house up for his bail bond and then disappeared. If she fails, Ree and her family will be turned out into the Ozark woods of Southern Missouri.
To find him, Ree confronts the dangerous world of the Dolly family. With the reluctant help of her hard-bitten uncle Teardrop (John Hawkes) and her best friend Gail (Lauren Sweetser, MSU Theater student), Ree defies her outlaw clan’s code of silence, hacking her way through their lies, evasions, and threats to piece together the truth.
Based on the novel by Daniel Woodrell, WINTER’S BONE is directed by Debra Granik (DOWN TO THE BONE) and adapted for the screen by Granik and Anne Rosellini. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, John Hawkes, Kevin Breznahan, Dale Dickey, Garret Dillahunt, Sheryl Lee and Tate Taylor. The movie was awarded the Grand Prize at Sundance Film Festival this year as well as winning the Screenwriting award for Granik and Rosellini.

There are also several “unknown” actors and actresses from the Ozarks who were cast in the movie “Winter’s Bone” who also should be listed as being in the film. You can get all their names from Creative Actor’s Workshop in Springfield Missouri-Scott Arthur Allen acting coach.
“Winter’s Bone” also won two awards at The Berlin Film Festival in February 2010.
Just some things to add to the above article.
