Winter’s Bone Advanced Screening Thursday – Opens Friday at Campbell 16 Cine

However, Springfield residents wanting to enjoy the big screen presence early have that opportunity. Wehrenberg Theatres proudly announces a special “Red Carpet” Advance Screening of Winter’s Bone Thursday, June 17 at 7:30 PM!

In addition to being among the first to see this film, which is drawing rave reviews from critics everywhere, guests at the screening can stay for a Q&A session following the presentation. Local talent directly involved with the creation of Winter’s Bone will be on-hand to answer audience questions. Confirmed is Shelley Waggener, who plays “Sonya.”

Winter’s Bone follows 17-year-old Ree Dolly as she sets out to track down her father who put their house up for his bail bond, then disappeared. If her quest fails, her family will be turned out into the Ozark woods. Challenging her outlaw kin’s code of silence and risking her life, Ree hacks through the lies, evasions and threats offered by her relatives and pieces together the truth.

Not only will guests enjoy local scenes and talent, but the film has generated incredible buzz and accolades on its merits. The film won the Grand Jury Prize as the best film at Sundance, along with the Waldo Scott Screenwriting Award. Rottentomatoes.com, a website which compiles critic reviews across the nation, lists the film as earning 100% positive acclaim. Many reviews call for Oscar nods or refer to Winter’s Bone as the best film of 2010 so far.
