Hello my name is Brian Rowe and I’m running for the Board. I have had a long love affair with both the visual and audio medias for quite some time. It started back in middle school when a new friend invited me to help set up the studio for the Middle school’s daily news cast. I have not stopped trying to help out ever since.

For the last 15-16 years I have been a part of the medias from the smallest level to the highest levels. From helping in other fellow filmmakers films to helping local radio talent.

I have been actively pursuing my Passion for the Media Arts for the last 3 years. The last 3 years I have been building upon the basics of film making by expanding my social networking and helping out others so as I might learn some valuable lessons that others around me have learned. Before that, I have spent time enjoying the medias and actively writing scripts. I have an over active imagination and a Passion for stories which is why I probably have had so much fun writing my scripts.

Recently I have hurled myself into the Film Festivals. My first bout was entering a contest to create an original show for Fox and MySpace. I ranked in the top 100 out of over 7000 entries. My second was the local festival the SATO 48. Our lead actress earned a beat actress nom. Last year I stepped out of my comfort zone and produced a black & white silent film which earned my team three nominations. Audience Fav, Best Screenplay, and Best Film which was ranked in the top 5. At that point I new I really wanted to tell stories.

I don’t believe in limiting anyone’s pursuits in the Film Arts and that everyone who has a real desire to see their Passion come to life on the screen should be afforded the opportunity. It is with this approach I make my platform. I will do everything I can that is within my abilities to help grow and spread the love of film by assisting in anyway in making filmmaking in the Ozarks easier and more obtainable. There is much talent in and around Missouri and I wish to promote that as much as humanly possible.

Sincerely,
Brian.

Borg

Owner/Director – Phormation Media Group, LLC

Membership level: Producer (Top level)

Member since: January 2011

Film/TV Experience:

Jeremy has filled various roles for shows airing on major TV networks including: The Travel Channel, TLC, SyFy, and TruTV. He is currently in pre-production as Co-Producer and Director of Photography on a show set to air on local daytime TV.

Borg recently worked as a one-man production crew, shooting camera and running audio on the upcoming feature documentary by director Debra Granik (Winter’s Bone, 2010). The film is tentatively titled Life at Ease, and is expected to be released in 2012.

Jeremy founded Phormation Media Group in the summer of 2011, shortly before bringing the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to The Gillioz Theater in September. Having shown in over 400 cities around the world, it was the first time the festival had ever been brought to Springfield, Missouri. The inaugural showing was such a success that Borg and Phormation Media Group have decided to make it an annual event. Look for it again in September 2012.

“I’m proud to say that I’m a Springfield native, and that I’ve been fortunate enough to call this burgeoning city home for nearly my entire life.

I care about our community, and I have a lot invested in it. When my company hosted the film festival last fall, I chose a local non-profit beneficiary because I believe in giving back. My involvement in the Missouri Film Alliance of Springfield is also representative of that belief. Last year I attended every MFAS event after becoming a member, and I think I was probably the most active non-Board member. I filled-in for the President on many occasions, I hosted events, and I presented awards on behalf of the MFAS.

I believe that this organization has great potential, and that it can be a driving force for economic development and for the promotion of film and the moving image arts in our region.

Together, we make up the Missouri Film Alliance of Springfield, and together we can make Springfield a leading film community.”

My name is Christopher Kaspar and I eat visual for breakfast. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a marketing degree, I recently put my plans to move to LA on hold in order to work on a MA degree in Studio Art in Theory at Drury University here in Springfield. I was delighted to find a job with a102 studios and uncover the hidden film world here in town. In my most vivid dreams of the future, I hope to be a director of films that have purpose and change people’s lives in powerful ways. Ultimately, I want to help people not just look at movies, but into them.

I want to invest in the MFAS because I have tasted the magic that can be created when groups of talented people work together toward a common goal. There is momentum, energy and potential here. There is youth and there is experience. There are learners and the learned. There is opportunity. I am willing to work hard to connect the MFAS and then increase its exposure.

As the owner and operator of Goodwin Films, he seems to have safely avoided the conventional life. The 24-year-old shoots weddings and films in places from Uganda to New Orleans. He sleeps late pretty much whenever he wants. And he manages to live happily on as little as $15,000 per year.

Brandon is also completing his 2nd year as a member of the Board of Directors of the Missouri Film Alliance of Springfield, the hosts of this website.
