Thanks Bob! I wanted to make sure locals could get a chance to see this and respond. I like the idea of having qualified people from this area work as the crew on this film.

Last night in New York City director Debra Granik and a musician who appears in the film held a q. The film is suffused with country folk and bluegrass music..One of the charms of Winters Bone which was adapted from Daniel Woodrell s novel is that the dialogue has a regional rhythm that is unique to the Ozarks. Granik called the dialogue a kind of offhand poetry..But while many films that take place in New York and Los Angeles find broad acceptance in Hollywood Granik said that Theres a lot of discrimination against films that take place elsewhere in the United States..The music in the film also draws from the culture of the region featuring instruments like the banjo and mandolin and songs such as the Missouri Waltz and the southern hymn Farther Along..Sisco said one of the songs on the soundtrack was first performed around 1590 and that much of the other music in the movie was also old and traditional.

Jim - I'd suggest using the Amazon link I posted in the story as the most reliable way of getting the DVD. I purchased the HD version on iTunes and will likely buy the DVD as well (Xmas hint Mom!). If anyone is aware of a local shop that is stocking the DVD, let us know!
