Marriott Courtyard
3301Lemone Industrial Boulevard
Columbia, MO 65203
I wanted to remind everyone of the MOMMA conference and film summit, February 26 and 27 in Columbia at the Marriott Courtyard. This is an important first conference for MOMMA and for the industry. It will also be held at a time when we need to show the state legislature that we are one voice. If your schedule permits, I hope you will attend. We have a great line-up of educational programs and the conference is held during the True/False Film Festival. Everyone who attends will receive a pass to a Thursday night film. Plus, we’ll be giving away two full passes to the 2010 Festival at the Friday morning Breakfast at the Movies.
Join us for some great networking, education and fun. Go here to register. You can go through the registration process and look at all of the offerings without finalizing your registration so feel free to browse.
About True/False: Below is a comment from the winner of the 2008 Oscar for best documentary:
“For any documentarian, True/False is nirvana. You walk down the street of Columbia Missouri – voted in 2004 as the “best Small Place to Do Business” – and you are stopped by students and secretaries, college professors and construction workers, sales reps for 3M and Oscar Mayer – and they all want to talk to you about your film, the intricacies of its subject and the aesthetic choices made! This is the way it’s supposed to be and never is: the town lives and breathes docs. The curators make great choices – I remember loving “The Mosquito Problem” and its charming Bulgarian producer. The films arelustily presented in a bawdy theater with a working bar at the back of the room. And the appreciation, sophistication and enthusiasm of the audiences is an inspiration. When I went to True/False, I remembered what I sometimes forget: the unalloyed joy of making and watching docs.” -Alex Gibney Jigsaw Productions
